Mon 5/19: Winona to Young 135 mi. Fuel/provisioning in Young. Features: saguaro cactus, Mogollon Rim escarpment, extensive pine forest, challenging rocky optional route.

Tues 5/20: Young to Benson 213 mi. Fuel/provisioning in Globe and Benson. Features: giant cacti, Coon Creek and Cherry Creekside trails, home-made tortillas at Las Michoacanas Mexican Restaurant in Mammoth, challenging rocky optional route. We'll likely stop short to camp between Mammoth and Benson.

Wed 5/21: Benson to Bisbee 125 mi Fuel/provisioning in Bisbee. Features: Empire Ranch, Sonoita wine tasting; drive along US/Mex border.

Thurs 5/22: Bisbee to Lake Caballo NM (road day) 250 mi. Stop for lunch/fuel/provisioning in Silver City NM. Features: scenic mountain road driving.

Fri 5/23: Lake Caballo to Chloride Canyon 75 mi (heavy off-road day). Fuel provisioning in Elephant Butte and at Winston Store. Stop in Chloride Ghost Town for awesome tour. Features: rugged driving along Lake Caballo and the Rio Grande river, Winston General Store, Chloride Ghost Town, Chloride Canyon pictographs, steep rugged terrain in Chloride Canyon.

Sat 5/24: Chloride Canyon to Reserve 110 mi. Includes Mordor (Corner) Mountain. Fuel/provisioning in Reserve. Features: rugged, rocky, steep mountain pass, high-elevation woodland, breathtaking scenery, remote freshwater lakes.

Sun 5/25: DEPARTURE FROM NMBDR Reserve to Winslow Canyon via Pie Town. 130 mi. Stop for lunch in Pie Town. Possible Stop at Bandera Volcano Ice Cave Features: Amazing lunch and home-made pie at Pie Town, drive through Malpais Nat Monument, ice cave.

Mon 5/26: Winslow Canyon to Cabezon 110 mi. Fuel/provisioning in Grants. Features: Tight, twisty, very unmaintained forest track, full grocery store stop in Grants plus all other services, traverse Mt. Taylor (10k feet), followed by massive Cabezon desert crossing, end the day with brief hike to the little known Chacoan Outlier post with its mesa-top massive keva pits used for signaling marauders. In bicycle racing terms, this is the "Queen Stage" of the trip.

Tues 5/27: Cabezon to San Antonio Hot Springs overlook 100 mi. Fuel in San Ysidro. Features: Cabezon Peak, abandoned ancient adobe dwelling, Gilman Tunnels, optional rugged hike to the remote San Antonio hot springs

Wed 5/28: FINAL DAY. San Antonio Hot Springs Overlook to Abiquiu. 70 mi. Fuel in Abiquiu, celebration dinner and soft lodging at Abiquiu Inn. Features: Teakettle Rock, high elevation forest, Chama River, historic Abiquiu village, Georgia O'Keefe House museum.
