DRIVE THE
GLOBE | Overland Adventures is going to the Arctic
Circle! March 8th 2007 we will meet in Edmonton, Alberta and head north! The ultimate goal is
the Arctic Circle via the Dempster
Highway and beyond. The trek will continue on over
winter ice roads and ultimately reach Tuktoyaktuk, a
small village on the Beaufort Sea (part of the Arctic Ocean) Along the way we
will be traveling through the beautiful scenery of northern British Columbia to
Whitehorse, in the Yukon Territory, the gold-rush town of Dawson City and then
to Inuvik. One can expect quite a bit of distance to
be covered in a short period of time. Expect long driving days, especially in
the beginning of the trip. Total distance covered: over 4800 miles.
The expedition team
consists of: Michael Ladden, Expedition Leader; Peter Goundry; Jim Leach; Kim Groenendyk, Logistics Coordinator;
Eric May and Neal Brenner. Eric and
Neal will be adding to their adventure by meeting the rest of the crew in
Edmonton after driving from Virginia.
Live updates will be
available on the site beginning March 5th when Eric and Neal depart
Virginia for their long trek to Edmonton.
